The Cutting Edge Challenge #9...Stars

Wow...what amazing and wonderful cards were in the Cutting Edge gallery the last two weeks...thanks to all of you who take the time to be a part of this new challenge...it is soooo fun to see all your different takes on the inspiration card....just wanted you to know we all appreciate seeing your creative artistry each week....thank you!!

It's time to share the next Cutting Edge Challenge!  This week's inspiration project is one of my cards.....

You're to use my card for your inspiration for this next two week challenge, and create a card that includes die cutting (all forms accepted).  Whether the flowers, colors, layout...there are always so many different ways to be inspired, right?:)!!    Here’s what I created:

I decided to try some stars in place of the flowers, rainbow, of course, with a dark simply pierced background and dark, printed card panel like the original.  I layered all the stars and added enamel dots in the colors of the stars.  I also added a heart over the sentiment's heart and glossy accented it...FUN!!
We’d LOVE to have you play along with us! If you click on through to The Cutting Edge Challenge Blog, you’ll find lots of information, including:

CAS(E) this Sketch #89...Thank You

I made a couple cards last night...all with an idea in mind for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge this week.  The first one is the one I am entering into the challenge, the second one was my first attempt, but I thought I would show you both:)!!  Here's my card and the sketch...

I used a piece of glossy paper, die cut with a stitched border, then sponged with color.  I let dry, then lining up my stencil, and taping down to work surface, I used white embossing paste, I put the paste over the colored glossy paper.  I stamped the Papertrey Ink sentiment on vellum and wrapped around that panel.  Here's a close up of the cool shiny look with the paste...

And here's my first attempt...the panel much smaller...
Always so much fun...I love these sketches!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Less is More 185...Animal

I haven't been in many challenges of late, but had an idea for a simple but meaningful card for this week's Less is More challenge, where the theme is ANIMAL.  Our bichon, Lucy, is 14 1/2 years old, and one week ago was striken with vestibular disease, sometimes called old dog disease...a disease that looks like stroke...kind of.  Dogs will generally recover in time, but may still have a slight wobble or tilted head.  It has been hard to see our crazy little girl getting old as she slowly regains her equilibrium and ability to get around this last week.  With the difficulty of this last week, this card really speaks to me...
The heart/paw print is Paper Smooches, the sentiment is Papertrey Ink.  I layered the outline and paw prints 3 times, so they would pop on the red heart...looking like they are "on the heart"...

Pink Polka Dotted Flower Thanks

I was going through a bin of stamps looking for a sentiment, when I found an "old friend"!!  Verve's Great Friend set has a set of flowers that I timelessly love!! I just HAD to make a card with a great big layered Great Friend flower!!   I stamped the three layers of flowers, cut out, glue dotted together, added a button and twine, and ...
...then...what to do with that polka dotted flower?  I stamped a Papertrey Ink sentiment down the right side of the card with one sole pink colored thank you amongst a row of gray thanks!  I used my t-ruler to line up the sentiment.  Stamp the pink sentiment first (leaving enough room for the sentiment below it).  BEFORE you lift the acrylic block from the card, push the t-ruler up against the block...making it possible to stamp all the remaining sentiments in the exact same place on the card.  My advice...practice on scrap paper before you do it...spacing and getting it perfect take a couple tries (well maybe more than a couple if you are anything like me:)!!).  LOVE this flower:)...makes me happy!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

For An Inspiring Teacher

Time for another of my Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen favorites!  I made this card back in February of this year, the theme for that month was You Raise Me Up...and in tribute to amazing teachers everywhere who raise us up and inspire us...
I used a Papertrey Ink stamp set and die...the "you inspire me" is from the Hero Arts Friends stamp set(I think a retired set).  I glossy accented the "teacher" for added dimension and interest.  Simple...to the point!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa
